Sleepless Nights Of A Devoted Mother

A standing ovation for all moms! The dedication a mother has, the worries, the sleepless nights, this may well be rewarded.
Sleepless nights of a devoted mother

A mother’s sleepless nights seem incessant. A devoted mother usually doesn’t have much time to rest; sleep is a luxury. From the moment you begin to feel life in your womb to the moment your children are adults, mothers spend their nights in a waking state.

Without a doubt, every child has their own guardian angel. In this case, however, we are not talking about something supernatural, but rather someone more tangible. Someone standing right next to him, to be exact.

In this article, therefore, we would like to take a moment to acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of every mother. Mothers invest days, months and years of sleepless nights in devotion to her children.

A pregnant mother’s sleepless nights

A mother’s sleepless nights begin during pregnancy and are present at every stage of her child’s development. This is especially the case when the baby reaches the last stage of pregnancy, when the fetus will have long nights, without giving the mother a moment of rest.

Why are mothers so prone to sleepless nights during pregnancy? During the night, their nocturnally active baby’s movements become more and more frequent. And of course the aches and pains of advanced pregnancy also play an important role.

The insomnia that follows the arrival of a newborn baby

The baby is here! But while joy and excitement will abound in your home, the night time hasn’t changed. Statements like  “He won’t let me sleep” or “I don’t have time to sleep” are repeated over and over by new moms around the world.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as the first few months of your little one’s life are tough for any mother. They imply a series of changes and a significant amount of new things to learn. Newborn babies often wake up and cry inconsolably.

The sleepless nights after the arrival of a newborn baby

Is he hungry? Is he too hot? Does he need a new diaper? You try everything and nothing but your own two arms seems to be able to calm your baby. In any case, a new period has begun in which a mother submits herself purely and solely to the interest of her baby’s well-being.

While your child is growing up…

Your little one is growing up. It will no doubt be smoother in many areas, although other factors play into keeping you awake during the night. Before you know it, your child will come through his first tooth, start eating solid foods, crawling and even taking his first steps.

During this period, you will notice and appreciate a glorious fact: your baby will sleep peacefully for a longer period of time! In fact, if you are an exceptionally lucky mother, your child will even sleep through the night. This is a memorable moment for both baby and mommy!

And then comes a new chapter of sleepless nights for mom:  “He won’t go to sleep! Hours and hours pass and you are a prisoner of your own unsatisfied exhaustion. Your child refuses to give in to his sleepiness, even after a long day of fun and games.

Your nighttime rhythm of a warm bath, followed by a bedtime story, a lullaby, hugs, kisses and cuddles is no longer enough. Whatever you do to exhaust your child so that he will fall asleep, all you get is the opposite. Your little one has more energy than ever. He wants to play, escape from his room… he even wants to jump on the bed!

Sleepless nights when your child is a bit older and, for example, goes out with his friends

Other Things That Cause Insomnia in Mothers

You probably think that we have forgotten to mention the times when your child is sick. Those endless nights you spend taking your child’s temperature, or observing his cough or rash, etc. When our children are not feeling well, they need our time and attention more than ever, continuously.

Every time her child is sick, the mother’s insomnia will kick in no matter how old her beloved little one is. “I can’t sleep” becomes our motto during these times of hypervigilance that keeps us awake and alert for any symptom our child may be showing.

And yes, as your child grows older you will face a whole new set of concerns. Your teen starts going out with friends.

It doesn’t matter if he goes to his first party or his tenth, you’ll be through long nighttime hours with your eyes wide open. In fact, you won’t even go to bed. You know that even trying to sleep is a lost cause.

“Hello mom, I’m going out with friends. Do not wait for me.” So what’s your plan tonight? Liters of coffee, watching a movie and, of course, a clock nearby so you can tell what the time is. To sleep? An impossible mission.

Anyway, despite so many sleepless nights, moms give their all to raise their children. Out of pure and unconditional love, these ‘guardian angels’ watch over their little one day and night, taking care of them at every stage of their development. A standing ovation to all of you, moms!
